Block of the Month

A quilt can become pretty costly to make, depending on the fabrics you get and the sales you are able to take advantage of. So when you get an opportunity for a $20 quilt top, it is really exciting.


It is a block of the month club that my mom and I joined. (She is mailing me the monthly kits.)


Here are the rules:

• You sign up for the block of the month club with your $20.
  
• They give you the first month's kit. Each kit includes fabric, a picture, and cutting measurements (ex. 3 4" squares, 12 2" squares, etc.).
  
• You cut the fabric and sew it together according to the picture.
  
• Bring the finished block in the first weekend of the next month, and you get the next kit for free.
  
• If you don't finish your block, or if you don't make it into the shop during the first weekend of each month, you have to pay an extra $5 to get back into the 'club'.
  
• Each block finishes to about 12"x12", and there are 12 total blocks. There will also be a finishing kit at the end that includes the borders and additional fabrics to finish the quilt.

This will end up being a fairly large quilt and after seeing the first block, I am really excited. They picked out really pretty pink and green fabrics.
