We decided to adopt a dog from the SPCA. So many dogs are abandoned or mistreated, so we made the decision to adopt rather than seek out a breeder. This is where the story begins.
At the local SPCA we looked at all the dogs, but became really attached to one that was in the very last cell at the end of the hallway - a beautiful dalmatian mix. The tag on the door contained the following information: dalmatian mix, male, neutered (which makes sense since the SPCA doesn't adopt out dogs who have not been spayed or neutered), young adult, found in Cicero, NY. There was no name, no specific age, and no other information about this sweet dog. The dog was quiet and didn't bark like the other dogs.
We decided to play with this dog for a while. This caring baby had a lot of energy, but a lot of love to share too. We decided to adopt this one. The next day we took our new dog home.
This is where the "funny" part begins...
As the dog was getting used to the house, we were trying to pick out names. This was difficult since we didn't really agree on any names, and Brandon has a really strange idea about what is a good name for a dog...
We started noticing a few things about the dog, and finally got a good look... This was not a male at all - we had a girl dog! Not a bad thing, just unexpected. So we named her Cicero, or Cissy for short. She is a loving dog, but she also loves to chew things, and not just chew them , but eat them or shred them to a million pieces. A rawhide bone lasted approximately 12 hours. Her tug rope lasted a few days until we left her alone with it (then she chewed it to shreds in about 30 minutes). Same thing for the tennis ball, dog bed, and stuffed squeaky toy.
We are working on the chewing thing, and I think she is getting better.
Funny thing #2: Not only do we have a girl instead of a boy. The SPCA told us he was neutered. Unfortunately, we found out this week she is not spayed.
I went back and told the SPCA this; they laughed a little and then mentioned they would pay for the procedure since that cost is included in the original adoption fee.
We love Cissy, and she is a great addition to our family. Although, you will notice she does not sit still for pictures, at all.

LOL! This is too funny! How did know one check?! I was waiting for you to say the dog was going to have puppies. :)
OMG, too funny. You have your hands full. Cissy is adorable though and hopefully she will settle down.
